The Gospel: A Message of Hope and Salvation

The Gospel is an ancient message, contains “good news” of hope and salvation, for all who need, embrace, and trust in Jesus Christ.

Introduction

The Christian faith is centered on the Gospel, from “euangelion” a greek word meaning “good news”. The Gospel is about the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is all about hope and salvation. The purpose of this assignment is to tell what the Gospel is and what it means to us as believers.

The Essence of the Gospel

The Gospel is all about Jesus Christ. It is about Jesus’ death (for our sin), burial (also for our sin), and resurrection (God’s word of victory for our sin). The “good news” in a nutshell is God sending his son to die for our sin because he loves us THIS MUCH.

Power of the Gospel

The life-changing, transformative nature of the Gospel. This message does not simply botox a sin problem. It provides the recipient with a “heart transplant.”
People sitting around a grave weighing in on it, keeping record of their observations, and asking their questions, does nothing for the anxious woman approaching the grave.
The tomb is rolled away. The body is not wrapped. Jesus is alive and present. And he calls to the anxious woman. “What are you seeking?
She thinks he’s the gardner, and tells him her problem.
And he speaks her into a new life.
“Mary.”
He changes everything about this woman.
She meets the gardner and leaves the farm.
Salvation is personal. It is a personal relationship with God through faith in the crucifixion, burial, and the resurrection of his Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The Universality of the Gospel

The Gospel is for everybody. It is for all those people out there. It is for us in here.
This message does not belong to a group of people or a culture. It crosses all kinds of borders and boundaries. It is for us and them.
Paragraph 4: Faith and the Gospel

If heaven is real, and hell is real, and the mission of God is real, and the Gospel is real, then my faith is more than just these words and songs.
The Bible says without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). If I can’t please God without faith, how can I believe there is a God, or a heaven, or a hell? How can I believe that God was robed in flesh and put to death on a cross for my sin, was buried just like every other human in a tomb, and then conquered death and arose from the dead?

If that’s too much for you, I understand.
But, consider this with me; how beneficial would it be for thunderstorm warnings to cause people to rush off in fear each time? How beneficial would it be for the news to report impending doom each day?

If heaven and hell are possible, then faith is also possible.
